Local SEO
Getting found by the customers already searching for what you do, in the town where you do it. No jargon, no vanity metrics, and no promises about page one in thirty days.
Most SEO sold to small businesses in South Africa is a monthly retainer with a report attached. The report shows rankings for terms nobody searches, traffic that never becomes enquiries, and a lot of activity that is easy to invoice and hard to verify.
We will tell you the uncomfortable part first, because it determines where your money should go. For local searches, your Google Business Profile and your review count matter more than anything on your website. A competitor with ninety reviews will outrank a flawless site with none. That is not a reason to skip the website work — it is a reason to do the reviews first.
The highest-return hour in local SEO is usually not spent on the website. It is spent asking a past customer for a review.
What we actually do
- Google Business Profile, properly. Correct primary category, real service areas, services filled in, photos, and weekly posts — a profile that posts beats an identical dormant one.
- Review strategy. We set up the request flow and tell you exactly who to ask and when. We never buy or write reviews; Google detects both and the penalty is worse than having none.
- On-page work — titles and descriptions that fit inside Google's limits, correct heading structure, and one page per service and town rather than one page trying to cover everything.
- Structured data. Business, service, FAQ and review markup, so Google and AI search engines can read who you are. Done right this can earn you star ratings in results.
- Technical foundations — speed, mobile usability, crawlability, sitemaps, canonicals and Search Console set up and monitored.
- Local citations. Consistent name, address and phone across the directories that count.
Honest timelines
- Own business name
- Weeks
- Local service terms
- 4–8 months
- Fastest lever
- Reviews
A new domain with no backlinks does not rank quickly, and nobody can shortcut that. Showing up for your own business name typically takes weeks. Competing for a term like "web design Vanderbijlpark" realistically takes several months of consistent work. If an agency promises faster than that, ask them to name the exact search term — it will usually be one with no volume.
Reporting you can check yourself
We set up Google Search Console on your domain and show you how to read it. That means the numbers we report are the same numbers you can see in your own account, pulled from Google rather than from our dashboard. If the work is not producing impressions, you will know at the same time we do.
When we will tell you not to bother
If your market is small enough that there simply is not search volume for it, SEO is the wrong spend and we will say so. For some businesses Google Ads, a properly run Business Profile, or frankly just asking customers for referrals will produce more work for less money. We would rather tell you that than take a retainer for twelve months.
